Welcome back to all the Students, Staff and Parents of Walsh Public School. Elections took place at our first meeting. Jean Oatman and Patty McGuire have accepted the positions of Secretary and Chair, respectively, for the school year 2003-2004. Parent representatives include: Nora McCulla, Jamie Kelly, Wendy Lamb, Anne Winter, Michelle Wilson and Michele Crandall. Council welcomes Scott Peck as our newest member. Council is appreciative of Mrs. Tschirhart and Mrs. Reed for accepting the positions of Teaching and Non-Teaching representatives, respectively, again this year. Mrs. Reed is irreplaceable in assisting Council in our communication efforts. In November, look for a photo of our council members on the message board outside of the office.
 

Council would like to thank Mrs. Judy McCrory for her longstanding role of Community representative on the Council. We regretfully accept Judy's resignation. We are eager to have this position filled on council for this year's term. If you know anyone who may be interested in being our Community representative, please have him or her call the school office.

Please note Council will be meeting bi-monthly this year. (Nov. 19^th, Jan. 21^st, March 24^th, May 19^th) Parents are always welcome to join us as guests anytime.
 

We hope everyone received their fridge magnets at the start of the year. Council was proud to be a part of this communication endeavour.
 

Walsh has undergone some more changes again this year in regards to staffing. While change is difficult we can all help make these changes positive for our children's education. Remember to keep up communication between family and classroom teacher. Utilize those agendas and communication books. Volunteer at Walsh. Mrs. Church is the Volunteer co-ordinator this year. It is never too late to sign up. Call the office for more information.
 

Council would like to invite all parents for a Fall Coffee Hour on October 17, 2003 from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. in the staff room at Walsh. Come out for an informal get together with other parents, Rita Beagle POW Chair, Mrs. Church, Walsh Teachers and Council members. Get to know the people who make Walsh a great school, meet your child's classmate's parents and meet both POW and Council members. The more the merrier!
 

Council would like to recognize POW's generous donations to each division for instructional materials for the classroom! October 19^th, POW is holding their first fundraising brunch of the year. Come out for a delicious breakfast and contribute to your child's education at the same time! Thank you POW.
