The Colts got off to a strong start this weekend by reaching the finals of the annual Tip Off Tournament. BCI came out strong on the first day of their tournament by beating both Pauline Johnson and Assumption in hard fought games. In both games BCI used a very balanced scoring attack and a solid rebounding game to make the finals. However, the Colts fell short in the finals to a very tough experienced North Park team. The tournament allowed a lot of grade 9s their first games in high school and got everyone a chance to see what BCI basketball is all about. Thanks to all the parents and fans that came to support the Colts.
Dec 1 BCI @ Simcoe   49 - 32

Dec 3 BCI @ PJC 5:30 48 - 20
The colts were successful in getting their first win in the regular season against a gritty Pauline Johnson team. BCI came out struggling with their shooting but were able to get several steals due to their full court press. PJ played tough defense under their own hoop, making it hard for BCI to find easy shots. However, the second half was a different story as the Colts were able to move the ball quickly, play solid defense and score plenty of baskets. The colts were lead by their post players Ben Candy and Mackenzie Mark who had 13 points a peice. Brandon Moxley lead BCI on defense drawing 3 charges. BCI is 1-0 and faces SJC at home on Tuesday.

Dec 8 SJC @ BCI 7:00 15 - 60
The Colts suffered their first regular season loss on Tuesday, falling to a very tough and experienced St. John's team. The Colts had difficulty with St. John's pressure early and fell into a twenty point deficit very early in the ball game. BCI settled down in the second half and played better basketball. The Colts were lead in scoring by Mackenzie Mark with 8 points and Kelby Sakaluck with 4. BCI is now 1-1 and face the Assumption Lions on Thursday.
Dec 10 BCI @ ACS 5:30 45 - 39
BCI won its closest game of the year to date, prevailing over Assumption. BCI showed confidence down the stretch in a close game and kept their composure against a very pesky Assumption defence. The colts were dominant down low the entire game, relying on Chris Gorski and Mackenzie Mark for points from the block. Mark lead all scorers with 13 points and Gorski added 12. The Colts were active on the defensive end with both Kelby Sakaluck and Jeremy Gooden playing tough defense. The Colts are now 2-1 in regular season plan and have a tournament at Oakville Trafalgar this weekend. The next regular season game is Tuesday night Dec 15,  7:00 at BCI vs North Park. Dec 15 NPC @ BCI 7:00 28 - 55
The Colts had their last game of 2009 and suffered a defeat at the hands of North Park 55-28. The score was not indicative of the play on the floor as both teams fought till the final buzzer. BCI handled North Park's pressure much better than their previous meeting in the tip-off tournament and played great half court man-to-man defence. Mackenzie Mark lead all scorers in the game with 13 points. Ethan McClure played a great game and showed improved touch around the hoop. Cody Charles was fantastic on the boards and the defensive end. The Colts enter 2010 with a 2-2 league record.

Brandon Moxley and Chris Gorski scored in double figures with 10 points and both played excellent on the defensive end. The Colts are 3-2 in league play and are alone in third place. Jan 12 BCI @ SJC 5:30 25 - 69
The Colts faced the first place St. Johns Green Eagles and fell by a score of 69-25. During the first 4 minutes of the game, BCI outplayed the heavy favourites and had an early lead. However, St. Johns increased their pressure defense and BCI turned the ball over for many Eagles' baskets. Chris Gorski lead BCI with 5 points and Jeremy Gooden played an excellent game on both ends of the floor. BCI still stands above .500 in league play with a record of 4-3 and look to improve on that Thursday when Assumption comes to play at BCI.
Jan 14 ACS @ BCI 7:00 42 - 43
The Colts lost their closest game of the year to Assumption 43-42. The Colts started off slow, having to play catch up for most of the game. They were able to tie the game up at halftime from some very strong post play from Chris Gorski. The game remained back and forth in the second half but the Colts simply turned the ball over too often and left many, many points at the free throw line. Kelby Sakaluck kept the game close with clutch shooting from the wing and leading all scorers with 13. Chris Gorski hit a runner in the key with 11 seconds left to put the Colts up 42-40, but with seconds left an Assumption player hit the basket plus a foul for the victory. The Colts are now 4-4 in league play but still remain in 3rd place. BCI is off for the exam break and return to action February 3rd vs. North Park.
Feb 2 BCI @ NPC 6:00 27 - 52
