Cayuga's 150th Birthday

At 11:00 today (Tuesday, June 16th), there was a ceremony to kick off Cayuga's 150th Anniversary Celebration. Cayuga Secondary School was asked to participate in this event by taking an aerial photo for the local papers spelling out 150. The fire department assisted us by taking the photo from their lift. The actual celebration will take place during the week of July 11 - 19, 2009.

On this day, 150 years ago, the town was officially incorporated. At that time, the colours of the flag were blue, white and red so the 150th committee chose to use these colours for the town's celebration. Besides the photo, there was a cake cutting ceremony, a presentation of the display time capsule and the official entry of our front gardens into the 150th Garden Contest.
