Principal’s Message

Semester one is now over after a busy five months at our school.

The renovations outside our building are now finally complete. The contractors were on site from the first day of school until the first week of January, and the improvements to the exterior of our building are quite dramatic. Some final grading and additional upgrades to the lawns and flower beds will also follow in the spring.

The sporting scene has been busy here as usual, with many of our Warrior teams meeting with success. The football team had an amazing season this year and made it to the league semi-finals. Both golf and tennis teams continued to have strong showings in fall tournaments, and our girls' basketball and boys' volleyball teams once again made us proud! Currently we have a number of athletes representing CSS in wrestling, girls' volleyball, boys' basketball and girls' ice hockey.

Students Council has also been active around our school with a number of initiatives, including grade 9 orientation activities, Me to We fundraiser, leadership development, dances and are currently running for our CSS Winter Olympics!
With the start of semester two, we say goodbye to Ms. M. Moniz who has been filling in as an LTO science teacher for the last year and did a wonderful job!

Ms. J. Faulkner will be returning to the science department and we welcome her back.

As well we would like to welcome Ms. K. Downey to the Math Department and English Department for the next semester.

Also Mrs. Yager will be away on a maternity leave for the next semester. We wish her all the best. Filling in for her in the Business Department will be Mr. A. de Souza.

Our guidance department is currently meeting with all students to discuss the course selection process for next year. Please encourage your son or daughter to submit their option sheet signed by parents on time so as to give them the best opportunity to be placed in the classes of their choice.

Option sheets are due at the end of February!

Our next School Council Meeting is Mon. Feb. 22, 2010 at 6:00 PM in the school library. If you would like to attend and hear about upcoming school events or share any ideas or concerns; please feel free to join us.

As always we hope you call or email us if you have any questions or concerns regarding your son or daughter at school. Both Mr. Demczuk and I are interested and available most days to speak or meet with you. We thank you for your ongoing support!
