BTT1O Computer Applications - Open
This course introduces students to the use of information technology in a business environment. Students will learn how to use information technology in a work environment, perform electronic research, communicate electronically, and use common business software. They will also explore possible future occupations in information technology.

TTI1O Integrated Technologies - Open
This course enables students to understand the technological and computer concepts they need in order to design, develop, and build usable products and/or deliver services, and to pursue further technological studies. Students will use the technological design process and a variety of tools and software to solve problems, complete projects, and strengthen their communication skills.

GRADE 10


TDJ2O Technological Design - Open
This course requires students to design and develop innovative products and services. Students will learn the following: how to identify user needs related to specified design problems; the physical properties of selected materials and their application in product design; techniques to create physical products and services; various presentation techniques; how to test and evaluate design solutions and the implications of technology on the development of products or services. They will also become aware of design related careers. Prerequisite: None

TCJ2O Construction Technology - Open
This course requires students to design, build, and evaluate projects using design instruments and machine and hand tools. Students will solve technological problems through a variety of media; identify and describe building materials and other resources needed to construct, maintain, and service buildings; identify support systems and components; apply safety rules related to materials, processes, and equipment; identify common architectural styles; and identify careers related to construction technology. Prerequisite: None

TMJ2O Manufacturing Technology - Open
This course introduces students to the scope of the manufacturing industry, the various components used in the design of products, the industrial tools and equipment used, and methods of manufacturing, including assembly line production. Students will learn about technical drawing; preparation processes; manufacturing techniques; power, electronic, and quality control system; careers in the manufacturing field; and the role of entrepreneurs in Canadian society. Basic welding techniques are introduced. Prerequisite: None

TTJ2O Transportation Technology - Open
This course requires students to build projects and to learn service procedures related to different modes of transportation. Students will learn about support systems for transporting people and products; measurement systems and methods; the analysis, design, and construction of a system to convert and make practical use of energy; the function of major vehicle system components; the impact of transportation systems on the environment; communication skills; and transportation- related careers. Prerequisite: None

TPJ20 Health and Personal Services Technology - Open
This course emphasizes technological applications in the areas of health care and personal services. Students will learn to describe and evaluate professional practices and principles; to select and use technical resources to solve problems; and to use materials, tools and equipment safely. They will also acquire transferable skills for changing work environments, personal management skills, and knowledge of entry requirements for careers in this area. Prerequisite: None

BBI20 Introduction of Business - Open
This course introduces students to the world of business, including the concepts, functions, and skills required for meeting the challenges of operating a business in the twenty-first century on a local, national, and/or international scale. Students will also learn concepts and skills related to personal finance, entrepreneurship, and international business. Prerequisite: None

BTT20 Introduction to Information Technology - Open (*** For students who did NOT take BTT10 in grade 9***)
This course introduces students to the use of information technology in a business environment. Students will learn how to use information technology in a work environment, perform electronic research, communicate electronically, and use common business software. TIK20 Computer and Information Science, Grade 10 - Open
This course introduces students to computer science concepts. Students will learn about the stages of software design; the fundamental programming constructs of sequence, selection and repetition; the functions of internal and external computer components; the relationship among networks, operating systems, and application software and their uses; and how programming languages evolve. Students will also develop an awareness of computer-related careers. Prerequisite: None
Recommended Background: Grade 9 Academic Math. Strong problem solving and logical thinking skills required.

GRADE 11


ICS3M Computer and Information Science - University/College Preparation
The course helps students examine computer science concepts. Students will outline stages in software development, define standard control and data structures, identify on - and off-line resources, explain the functions of basic computer components, and develop programming and problem-solving skills by using operating systems and implementing defined practices. As well as identifying careers in computer science, students will develop an understanding of the ethical use of computers and the impact of emergent technologies on society. Prerequisite: None
Recommended Background: Grade 10 academic math or TIK2O. (This is an in-depth programming course involving application of problem solving and logical thinking skills. Counts as a compulsory Senior Level Credit in Business Studies

ICE3M Computer Engineering, Grade 11, University/College Preparation
This course helps students understand how computer hardware and software are used to solve computer-related problems from an engineering perspective. Students will explore ways of connecting computers, interfaces, and peripherals using their knowledge of logic gates, computer components, peripherals, programming, networks, and operating systems. Students will also construct systems that use computer programs to interact with hardware, install and configure key computer hardware and software components, develop an understanding of the ethical use of computers, and explore careers in computer engineering.

BAI3E Introduction to Accounting, Grade 11, Workplace Preparation

This course introduces students to the use of accounting in business. Students will study various types of businesses and business ownership, and ways in which accounting procedures are applied in the different types of businesses with regard to recording transactions, preparing financial statements, and analysing the process of cash management. They will learn about risks related to credit sales and about the collection of debts, and will use accounting software.

BMI3C Introduction to Marketing - College Preparation
This course introduces the fundamental concepts of marketing, with an emphasis on in-depth analysis of the influence of changes in the economy and global marketplace, trends and issues, and the impact of technology. Students will analyse the buying patterns of various consumers and the effect of marketing strategies, and will engage in marketing research. Students will also develop and present a marketing plan for a specific product. Prerequisite: None

BMX3E Introduction to Retail and Services Marketing - Workplace Preparation
This course focuses on developing knowledge and applying skills in the context of retail and services marketing. Students will learn about the importance of customer service, analyse the methods used to maintain customer loyalty, examine ways in which product presentation influences buyers, and investigate the critical factors in inventory control, including the role of technology. Prerequisite: None

This course provides students with the opportunity to develop the information technology skills and knowledge required in a business. Basic welding techniques are introduced with emphasis on Oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, arc welding, metal fabrication and blue print reading. The course is project driven with practical projects, design and manufacturing stages are introduced. Practical projects include go-carts, mini bikes, trailers etc. This course is a prerequisite for the grade 12 advanced welding, which leads to welder certification, college etc. This is also an excellent general interest course. This courses focuses on the core skills required to manage a small business. Students will deal with various aspects of operations management, such as inventory, marketing, financial issues, communication and human resources. CIA4U Economics - University Preparation
This course explores the choices that individuals and societies make about the use of resources in a competitive global economy. Students will use economic concepts and models, as well as methods of economic inquiry, to analyse current economic issues and make informed economic choices based on their analysis. This course focuses on ways in which organizations deal with issues affecting their competitiveness in a changing technological and global business environment. Students will analyse various leadership techniques and study various issues such as ethics in business, social responsibility, management of group dynamics, uses of information technology, workplace stress and conflict, motivation of employees, and globalization. Students will also investigate the management of a diverse workforce within an organization and the importance of strategic planning. TTJ4EY Transportation Technology - Workplace Preparation
This course will give the student a more in-depth study of 3EY. This course will also focus on the electrical systems in a vehicle in particular the computer and its related software. The program will also focus on the braking system of the vehicle. Prerequisite:TTJ4EA or TTJ3EY

TTJ4EO Recreational Vehicle Technology - Workplace Preparation
An advanced recreational vehicle and welding course for the senior student. Studies will include safety, proper riding techniques, brakes, suspension, tuneup and maintenance for minibikes, go carts, dirt bikes, watercraft, motorcycle, quads, outboards, etc. The course will stress welding and design welding aluminum, welding, fibre glass repair, body work. Students are encouraged to bring in their own projects or R.V. to work on. The Ontario Boating license may be achieved with this course. One credit Prerequisite: A senior transportation or manufacturing course

TMJ4EA Manufacturing Technology Machine Focus - Workplace
This course focuses on drafting and design, machining, welding,, computer numerical control (CNC), computer-assisted machining (CAM), motor control, hydraulic control, pneumatic control, and computer control. Students will use sophisticated design and manufacturing systems to design and fabricate tooling, to program CNC equipment, and to design and build solutions to technological challenges in manufacturing. Prerequisite: TMJ3EA

TMJ4EN Manufacturing Technology Welding Focus
Less emphasis on machining processes and more on advanced welding techniques. Advanced studies in arc welding techniques. Mig welding, tig welding, aluminum welding, plasma arc, welding symbols and blue print reading. Students will be ready for work experience or studies in post secondary education. Practical projects and applications are stresses along with steps needed for manufacturing, fabrication and design processes. An exciting career awaits the successful graduate.
