Attendance:

During the summer a new telephone system was installed at D.S.S. to call in your son's or daughter's absence call at the school at 905-744-7401 ext. 730206, for guidance ext.730207 or call direct at 905-774-1163. For all other staff members enter their name on the number pad and the system will give you their mailbox where you can leave a message.

 

Inclement Weather Policy:

A reminder to all parents and students that according to the GEDSB policy if the buses are cancelled for our zone (Zone 2) the school will be closed to all staff and students. For information about school closures check the board's website at www.gedsb.on.ca or listen to local radio stations after 6:30 a.m.

Drama:

Our school will be entering the Sears Regional Drama Competition at the Lighthouse Theatre in Port Dover. The competition will take place during the week of Feb. 23rd to 27th. The very creative and brave Emily Vint is both the writer and director. During the week of March 2nd the play will be presented to the public at an "All You Can Eat Beef on a Bun" dinner and will include a silent auction. Also, the Drama Dept. will be producing the Month Python Esque play, " The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood" sometime in the spring of 2009. All the great events are only possible with the help of the very talented and enthusiastic students at our school. 

 

Badminton:

The D.S.S. Badminton Club recently began meeting on meeting on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The club is open to all students and interested parents. There is a normal fee to help cover the costs of birds. If possible bring your own racquets. School contacts Mr. Shoup and Mr. Vaughan. Come out and have some fun and exercise!

 

Girl's Field Hockey-SOSSA Finalists!

Congratulations to the Girl's Field Hockey Team on their second place finish in the zone which allowed them to continue on and complete in the SOSSA finals. The team had a very rewarding season comprised of many goal scored offensively and many goals prevented due to a very strong defence-GO KATIE GO! the team's experience and skills definitely prevailed this season, making the outlook for next year's season very promising with a solid base of returning grade 9, 10, and 11 girls. Thank you so much for the dedication and coaching capabilities of Mrs. M Kuiper. Thank You also to all of our parent driver volunteers, we couldn't have done it without you! Looking forward to next year Ms. S. Vickers and Ms. J. Shushereba.
