DUNNVILLE SECONDARY SCHOOL
A. EXAM INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS, JANUARY. 2010.
1. END OF SEMESTER CLASSES: Regular classroom attendance prior to final exams and a strong effort are critical to student success. Many courses will be finishing their final summative assessments. As well, teachers will be reviewing and preparing for examinations.
2. PROPERTY OWING: Students are responsible for the return of all school property: classroom texts, library books, musical instruments, team uniforms, and any other school property. Students who fail to return property may be required to reimburse the school for the cost of replacement.
3. START: All exams begin at 9:00 a.m. Students should assemble in the appropriate hallway by
8:50 a.m. Arrive prepared (with pens, pencils, ruler, calculator, etc…) Please enter the exam room quietly and orderly. There should be absolutely no talking once exams have begun.
4. END: Minimum - all students must remain in the exam room for at least 1 hour. Maximum: as instructed by each teacher for each course. Please be as quiet as possible when leaving the exam room
and the school.
5. LEAVING THE SCHOOL/BUSES: Students are encouraged to leave the school by 11:30 a.m. Buses will run at their regular times for those unable to find their own transportation home. Students remaining in the school must be in the library or in the cafeteria.
6. ABSENCE FROM EXAMS: Students who miss an exam may receive a mark of "0". In
general, the only legitimate excuses for missing will be for medical reasons or for serious extenuating circumstances. A doctor's note may be required. Please contact the school immediately should you be unable to attend an exam.
7. CONFLICTS: Students with legitimate reasons for rescheduling their exams should see Mr. Carruthers immediately for approval.
8. LATES: Call the school immediately. Students arriving late will be permitted to write their exams. Students will not be permitted extra time unless there are mitigating circumstances.

10. SCHOOL CANCELLATION: Should school be cancelled the exams will be written in the order they were originally scheduled. Exams scheduled for the cancelled day will be written on the next school day and the entire exam schedule will be bumped back a day.
