Program Direction

(+ Future Goals/projects)

  • Make ourselves available to students and staff for crisis and non-crisis intervention
  • Be observant and approachable for any student wanting to talk about their concerns
  • Sponsor in -service training for interested students and staff
  • Present facts, risk factors, warning signs and community supports to all Gr. 9 and 10s
  • Provide resources to students and staff on suicide, abuse, bullying and harm reduction
  • Conduct needs assessment surveys to gather up to date information on student well being
  • Present information sessions to parent and community groups

We are currently working on getting local service clubs/teams in our community to support our team. We will be making presentations to them to explain who we are, what we do, and the importance of suicide awareness and intervention training. If you would like to support DSS' Suicide Intervention Team in any way possible, please contact the school (905-774-7401).
