DUNNVILLE HEALTH CENTRE VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATION BURSARIES
($500 Nov and $500 Jan.- varies)
Several bursaries are presented each year to graduates entering nursing training or hospital associated careers. Accompanying letter necessary. Deadline June 1st

DUNNVILLE’S R.C.A.F. SCHOLARSHIP (2 x $2000ea.)
Awarded to one male and one female student with a minimum average of 75% in his/her final year. The student must be a Canadian citizen and continuing their education at an accredited degree or diploma granting University or Community College in Canada on a full time basis immediately upon graduation from Dunnville Secondary School.

FRED BULKOWSKI SCHOLARSHIP ($12,500 available)
Awarded to students who have been in the public school system in the Dunnville area who demonstrate financial need and will be attending post secondary education following high school graduation. Extracurricular activities and community involvement will be considered.

HATTIE E. HELLYER BURSARIES (Various)
An unspecified number of Bursaries presented to deserving graduates continuing their education with at least a 70% average in graduating term. Amount and availability determined by number of applicants and the interest in the trust fund. Deadline June 1st

INMAN ROAD WOMEN'S INSTITUTE BURSARIES ($200)
One bursary awarded to graduate pursuing post-secondary education in early childhood education or in a course related to family studies. Deadline June 1st

JAMES N. ALLAN FAMILY FOUNDATION BURSARY ($1000)
Awarded annually to a deserving graduate requiring financial assistance to continue his/her education. Preferable someone not receiving any other award. Deadline June 1st

THE JEAN RUTHVEN-THOMAS MEMORIAL BURSARY ($600)
Awarded to a graduate with an appreciation for the English language and literature and/or consideration for a demonstrated interest in the visual fine arts. Demonstrated commitment to community is required. Deadline June 1st

An unspecified number of awards of varying value to be presented to deserving graduates who are pursuing post secondary courses with a significant mathematical content.

One bursary awarded to a student pursuing post-secondary education in genealogical studies, family history or as a a museum technician.

THE ROTARY CLUB OF DUNNVILLE SCHOLARSHIP (2 x $500)
Awarded to a deserving graduate student who, along with his/her academic studies, has worked toward community betterment. Community participation might include: volunteer work, membership in community groups, participation in co-op programs. This award is given to aid with educational or entrepreneurial costs.

AARON KITCHEN MEMORIAL AWARD ($200 ea.)
Award is given to a male and female graduate who is continuing his or her education. The student must have been active in sports (school or community) and been perceived by their peers and coaches as an asset to the team.

ARTS DUNNVILLE CULTURAL ASSOCIATION BURSARY ($50)
To be awarded annually to a graduate pursuing a post secondary education at a college or university in an arts related field of study. The recipient should have demonstrated academic ability and have shown leadership qualities during his/her secondary years.

CHARTWELLS SCHOOL DINING BURSARY ($500)
Awarded to a deserving graduate continuing their education in the field of food services.

CHRISTINE’S CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD ($500)
To be awarded annually to a deserving graduate for their contributions to the arts and/or photography.

CONNOR HARVIE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Awarded to a student pursuing a post secondary program. This student will have displayed leadership, inclusivness, loyalty, as well as having been active in school sports and fitness programs.

DIANE FINLEY AWARD FOR STUDENT LEADERSHIP (LEATHER PORTFOLIO WITH CERTIFICATE AND HOUSE OF COMMONS PEN)
Awarded to a graduate for outstanding leadership in the school or community

DR. DULMAGE DENTAL SCHOLARSHIP ($500)

Awarded to a deserving graduate going on in a scientific area.

ERIE MUTUAL INSURANCE SCHOLARSHIP ($200)
Awarded to a deserving graduate entering a business program at college or university with preference given to applicants taking the insurance option.

GIBBYHAWK MEMORIAL AWARDS (Don Gibson & Frank Bird) ($500 & 2 x $250)
To be awarded to the student who best displays a blend of loyalty, tenacity and perseverance in all endeavours. A person who, when others are giving up, is just warming up.

HIGHLIGHTS OF HADIMAND SCHOLARSHIP AWARD ($500)
Awarded to a graduating student continuing thier education in a Fine Arts program. (i.e. Graphic Arts, Music, Art, Photography)

JIM KIRKPATRICK MEMORIAL AWARD ($500 ea.)
Awarded to a male and female graduate who is pursuing post secondary education. The students must have been active in sports and school activities and in doing so displayed loyalty, generosity and perseverance.

MOSAIC ESTERHAZY HOLDINGS LTD. BURSARY ($500)
Awarded to the most deserving graduate proceeding to college in a technology based course.

OPTIMIST CLUB BURSARIES DUNNVILLE (2 X $500)
Presented annually to a deserving male and female graduate continuing his or her education at a community college.

ORDER OF THE EASTERN STAR - HUMANITARIAN AWARD (2 X $150)
This award will be given annually to the boy and girl who best exemplify benevolence toward their fellow students.

ROBERT GILBERT TECHNICAL AWARD (Interest in Trust Account)
The award is given to a deserving student in the Technology Program whose outstanding academic efforts and involvement in extra-curricular activities has resulted in the successful completion of that student's studies at Dunnville Secondary School.

STAFF SCHOLARSHIP D.S.S. ($400)
Awarded to a deserving graduate making a positive contribution to school life and going on to further education. (Can not be the Hattie Hellyer Scholarship winner)

STUDENT COUNCIL CITIZENSHIP AWARD ($150)
Awarded to a graduating student who has contributed time and effort to the improvement of the school community and has lived up to the school motto "Honore Et Labore" - "Honour and Hard Work".

SUICIDE INTERVENTION TEAM SCHOLARSHIP (2 X $100)
This scholarship will be given to a student continuing their education for outstanding participation and leadership in suicide prevention initiatives.

THE “WILSON BROOKS” LIONS CLUB PROFICIENCY SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Granted annually to a graduate. Proficiency includes participation in extra-curricular activities such as: Chamber Ensemble, Concert Band, Vocal Ensemble, Guitar club, School Musicals, Arts’ Night and completing a Music Co-op.

ACADEMIC AWARD (Gift)
Awarded to all students who have obtained 1st class honours for four years.

ANNA MELICK MEMORIAL PUBLIC SCHOOL AWARD
A deserving student who is a graduate of Anna Melick Memorial School. The student will be continuing in a post secondary program and will have demonstrated characterisics of caring. commitment, citezenship and cooperation.

CRYSTAL MAZEROLLE MEMORIAL AWARD ($100)
To be awarded to the most deserving student entering the field of Aesthetics or Hairstyling.

DUNNVILLE SECONDARY SCHOOL MUSIC AWARD ($100)
“In Memory of Mary Lou Speer”
Presented only when a deserving graduate continues his/her education at a faculty of music. Students must have honours, academic marks, participation in instrumental program, and have contributed to the school band.

DUNNVILLE SECONDARY SCHOOL OUTSTANDING ATTENDANCE (Certificate)
Less than 2 days absent for the school year.

DUNNVILLE SECONDARY SCHOOL STAFF RECOGNITION PEPSI AWARD ($500)
Awarded to a deserving graduate making a positive contribution to school life.

FAIRVIEW AVENUE PUBLIC SCHOOL AWARD (3 x $100.00)
Awarded to 3 deserving graduating students who are continuing their education or entering the work force. One will be university bound, one college bound and one workplace/apprenticeship bound. Candidates must be graduates of Fairview Avenue Public School in Dunnville.

FARR’S COACH LINES BURSARY ($100)
Presented to a graduate with the highest mark in English 4U1.

FIRST STUDENT EDUCATION SERVICES BURSARY ($200)
Presented to the graduate student with the highest mark in year three or four U or M History or Geography.

GOVERNOR GENERAL'S ACADEMIC MEDAL (medal)
The medals are awarded only for academic excellence, full-time graduating student with the best average in year 3 and 4 combined.

GRANDVIEW CENTRAL PUBLIC SCHOOL AWARD ($100)
Awarded to a deserving graduating student who is continuing their education. This student will have demonstrated kindness, citzenship and a positive attitude during their years at DSS. This award is sponsored by the staff at Grandview central Public School and candidates must be a graduate of Grandview Central Public in Dunnville.

HANK'S AUTO BODY TECHNICAL MERIT AWARD ($250)
Awarded to a graduating student going into the automotive technical field. To be awarded for hard work and improvement more strongly than high marks.

HATTIE HELLYER SCHOLARSHIP (2) (Varies)
Awarded to a full-time graduating student entering a university and entering a college.

HERITAGE ASSOCIATION PRESENTATION (BOOK and $100)
"Grand Heritage" to a top history student.

HONOUR AWARD
Awarded to all full-time students with honour standing. (See D.S.S. Honour Policy)

I.O.D.E. MRS. MARY McKEEVOR SCHOLARSHIP (Interest in Trust Account)
Awarded to the graduate with the highest average in 2 Grade 12 U courses in Canadian and World Studies or Social Science and Humanities.

LLOYD BROWN MATHEMATICS AWARD (Interest in Trust Account)
Awarded to the graduate with the highest average in MCV4U1, and MHF4U1.

MARGERY VAIL MEMORIAL (Language) AWARD ($300)
Awarded to the graduate with the highest average in ENG4U and FSF4U.

ONTARIO SCHOLAR (Certificate)
A total of 480 marks (80%) on 6 Grade 12 C/M/U courses.

ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION “SCOTT SMITH MEMORIAL HISTORY AWARD” ($500)
Graduate for outstanding achievement in the CHY4U course and proceeding with education.

ST. LEONARD'S COMMUNITY SERVICES PERSEVERANCE AWARD (Plaque and $50.00)
Awarded to a student who previously left school for a semester and came back and graduated.

ST. MICHAEL'S CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE BURSARY ($100)
Awarded to a deserving student who displays a sense of Christian values. Candidates must be graduates of St. Michael's School Dunnville and continuing their education.

STEVE HYATT MEMORIAL BURSARY ($500)
To be awarded annually to a graduating student of DSS who during their high school career was able to overcome challenges and persevered to find success.

STUDENT COUNCIL ATTENDANCE AWARD (Gift)
Awarded to all students who have completed four years at D.S.S. with outstanding attendance.

TIM SIMPSON MEMORIAL AWARD ($100)
Award is given to a compassionate student, who demonstrates an understanding of the technical field and who will be a contributing member of the community.

POWER WORKERS' UNION STUDENT AWARD ($250)
One scholarship of $250 awarded to a student who has demonstrated technical capabilities and has an interest in pursuing future studies that include either and apprenticeship or college studies the relate to power generation. Deadline June 1st

BRANTFORD HERITAGE QUILTER'S GUILD SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
This scholarship is awarded to a graduate from the Grand Erie District, going on to a post-secondary institution in the filed of fashion arts. Applicants must show personal growth and leadership in school and community activities. Applications in guidance office. Deadline April 1st

CANADIAN DRILLING RIG MUSEUM SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
Awarded to a deserving graduate in Haldimand County continuing within the selected Technological Trade (i.e. Millwright, Auto Mechanic, Electrician, Welder/Fitter, Carpenter, etc.) in a college or apprenticeship setting. Applications in guidance office. Deadline June 30th

DAY OF MOURNING SCHOLARSHIP AWARD ($500)
This award is awarded to graduates from Haldimand and Norfolk Counties, going on to a post-secondary institution. The applicant should have knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety. Applications in guidance office. Deadline Mid-April

DUNNVILLE’S OWN TINY STITCHERS (D.O.T.S) BURSARY ($500)
This bursary is awarded to a graduating student who will be enrolling in a Textile or Textile related course in a university or college level program. Students wishing to apply must submit a typed 500 word essay detailing their motives and goals for pursuing a career in the Textile industry. More information in the guidance office. Deadline April 30th

HALDIMAND FEDERATION OF AGRICULTURE SCHOLARSHIPS (2 X $500)
One of two $500.00 scholarships awarded to a graduate studying agriculture at a recognized college or university. Applications in guidance office. Deadline June 1st

MARY CATHARINE HOOVER DAWSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ($1,000)
This scholarship is awarded to a student demonstrating good citizenship who is continuing studies in a post secondary program. Eligible candidates are required to write an essay that includes a resume of their academic, school and community involvement and comments on their goals in furthering their education. Applications in guidance office.

OSAID SCHOLARSHIP ($500)
This scholarship is awarded to a student with a minimum grade 12 average of 75% and has community service involvement (especially working with OSAID or other anti drinking and driving groups). Letters of reference are required. Applications in guidance office.

($250.00 two per Secondary School)
Awarded to a graduating student pursuing post-secondary education with a specific focus in Engineering/Engineering Technology (including skilled trades - electrician, industrial millwright, stationary engineer), Science, Information Technology, Environmental Science, or Business. WANDA AND SCOTT SALVERDA SCHOLARSHIP (1st year post secondary education costs)
One recipient from all Haldimand and Norfolk secondary schools will be awarded this scholarship. The graduating student must be active in his/her school and community and must exemplify a hard work ethic in his/her everyday life.

The description of awards contained herein is only a guideline. The amount or eligibility criteria may change. The donor’s and/or the selection committee's decision is final.

1. Definition of a Graduate - a student who has received an OSSD and is not returning to a secondary school the following year.
2. A student will only be considered a graduate once.
3. A graduate may be limited to a maximum of 3 local awards.
4. The average to be used re: Hattie Hellyer Scholarship applicants should be as follows:
University applicants - best 6 Grade 12 U or M courses
College applicants - best 6 senior credits including Grade 12 English
5. Students who graduate from Dunnville Secondary School but achieved many of their credits elsewhere - discretion of the committee.
6. Please inform the Guidance office of any honours, awards, scholarships or bursaries that you receive from other sources so that you can be honoured at Commencement.
