J. H. ATKINS LIBRARY INFORMATION CENTRE

Dramatic changes in the world of information and learning have transformed the traditional library into an information centre for the school and a window to the world. In addition to providing the traditional functions of a library, there are computers with word processing, accounting, math and geography programs; CD ROM players and Internet connections.

Instruction in research skills is available to individuals working alone or through formal group instruction requested by teachers.

The policies and procedures practised in the library are designed to encourage maximum circulation and maintain security of our collection.

The basic loan period for books is three school weeks. If additional time is needed, please renew the loan.

Most reference materials can be taken out overnight only. Please return them before 9 a.m. the following school day.

Encyclopaedias with a more recent copyright date than 1990 may not be removed from the library.

It is expected that all materials will be returned on or before their due date. If this does not happen, a LATE CHARGE of 20 CENTS for each item for each day will apply.

Students and staff are encouraged to use and enjoy the materials in the J. H. Atkins Library Information Centre. We ask for your co-operation in making the system work for the greatest number of people and we hope to see you! .

During regular school hours, the library is available as well for classes with their teachers who have planned research assignments.
