SCHOOL DANCE POLICY

  1. Admission is restricted to those students who are in good standing at Valley Heights Secondary School.
  2. Each student may sign in one guest only and a request form must be turned in to the Vice Principal 2 days prior to the dance. The student will accept full responsibility for the guest. If the guest is found to be disrupting the dance in any way, both the student and the guest will be ejected from the dance. The student may be refused admission for two or more dances and will have no sign-in privileges for one full calendar year. The guest will be refused admission to all future dances. The guest will be expected to enter the dance with the person who has signed them in. 
  3. Only students who have purchased student cards will be allowed to buy tickets. 
  4. The Students' Council executive, co-operating with the Principal or Vice Principal, reserves the right to refuse admission to any student, or guest. Students who are absent from school on the day of a dance will not be admitted unless previously approved by the Principal or Vice Principal. 
  5. No articles whatsoever may be brought in with the intention of disrupting the dance. School staff and the Students' Council executive reserve the right to search students or guests if considered necessary. 
  6. Coats/bags must be left in the front hall. There is no access to lockers. 
  7. Sufficient lights will remain on in the Cafeteria and Gymnasium. 
  8. The Exit doors in the Gym will be sealed.
  9. If a student, or guest leaves during the dance, he/she will not be readmitted. 
  10. A member of the door committee may stamp each person as he/she enters. Entrance to the dance will be through the front foyer door. 
  11. Wednesday night dances running from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. will be encouraged. Special arrangements for later times and different nights, such as for the prom, will be made when it appears advisable. 
  12. Dress should be appropriate. 
  13. Smoking is not permitted on school property. 
  14. Any behaviour on the dance floor which is considered potentially dangerous is strictly prohibited. 
  15. The school's Code of Student Behaviour will be in effect for all dances. 
  16. If any of the dance policy regulations, except as in (b), is violated, the student or guest will be ejected from the dance and may be refused admission to all future dances for one calendar year.
