It is the policy of Valley Heights Secondary School to maintain a program of a continuous assessment in each course to provide students, parents, teachers and the administration with information at various times on the students’ progress in achieving the expectations of the course. Each department at Valley Heights has established a department evaluation policy which will be communicated to the student at the beginning of each course. Factors evaluated could include class work, homework, presentations, practical work, projects, tests, quizzes, unit tests, examinations and attendance. Regular attendance on the part of students is an important component of the educational process and of the evaluation of student achievement. Report cards will be sent home with each student, at mid-semester and at the end of each semester. Final reports in June are to be picked up by the students. The dates for pick-up will be posted on the sign at the front of the school.
